Ghana is going to host Africa Oil & Gas Talent Summit (AOGS) at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in its capital city Accra from 10-13 October 2017, with focus on empowering digital workplace strategies for the continent’s energy future

With the theme of ‘Workplace Digital Transformation for Africa's Energy Future - Issues, Prospects & Solutions,’ the summit is aiming to encourage digitisation in the workplace which is new phenomena in the energy sector. The event welcomes African operators, service providers and regulators to demonstrate their strategies for the future of the region’s oil and gas industry.

According to the organisers, the summit will provide a platform for the participants to discuss about recent trends of Africa’s oil and gas business and its future discourse.

American multinational General Electric (GE) will be delivering the summit keynote, with Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources and Tullow Oil providing support to the event, said the organisers.

With the use of artificial intelligence, automation and human-machine interaction being the current trends in oil and gas sector, as defined by the global management consulting firm McKinsey, the AOGS 2017 will focus on the digital talent solution areas for performance excellence in the oil and gas sector.

The summit will feature expert presentations as well as round-table sessions, with participation from CEOs of exploration and production companies, ministers, directors general and executive secretaries in the industry.

The summit is further aimed at providing Africa oil and gas human capital report for actionable insights for policy and strategic workforce planning by Africa-focused energy companies.

In addition, the Africa oil and gas awards for innovation and change leadership programme will also be held during the three-day summit to recognise energy executives from Africa to celebrate industry excellence for performance and sustainability.

Akufo Addo, the President of Ghana, has also expressed his willingness to be part of AOGS 2017.

Launched in 2015, the summit is a yearly event that seeks to fill an important gap in Africa’s oil industry’s ecosystem.
