ADX energy has spudded the Sidi Dhaher-1 well in the Chorbane licence, onshore Tunisia, following months of delays

The well will be drilled to a total depth of 2168 m and target estimated prospective resources of 175 bcf of recoverable gas in an Eocene reservoir as well as 44mn barrels of oil in a Cretaceous reservoir.

ADX added additional targets existed in the deeper Douleb and Bireno reservoirs which produce both oil and gas in the nearby Guebiba-El Hajeb field to the east.

Sidi Dhaher-1 was originally scheduled to be spudded in February but the well was delayed due to political unrest in Tunisia in January.

The well was also postponed in March after the mobilisation of the drilling rig was postponed until June over safety concerns for local residents and then again earlier this month due to delays in the delivery of equipment from Libya.

ADX said the well was expected to take about 33 days to drill with additional time required in the event of formation testing.
