Afren waits on Ebok flows

Africa-focused explorer Afren is on track to pump first oil from the Ebok field in Nigeria by the end of the year, chief executive Osman Shahenshah has said.

"The wells have all been performing according to plan, the facilities arrive in Nigeria as expected in December and then there's a hook-up and commissioning for production by the end of the year," Shahenshah said.

Production from the Okoro field, also in Nigeria, rose to around 18,000 boepd from around 16,100 boepd at the end of September following recent maintenance work, Shahenshah added.

Afren is also looking at development options for the Okwok field, which it successfully appraised earlier this month.

"Now what we'll do is we'll look at the best way to develop it [Okwok]," Shahenshah said, adding that the company was aiming to make a decision on how to develop Okwok by the end of the first half of next year.
