Algerian oil and gas finds brings further success

SONATRACH HAS UNVEILED two more oil and gas finds, bringing the number of hydrocarbon discoveries made by the company this year to five.

The new finds were made on blocks 239a and 244a in the Tinrhert area in Illizi basin, the company said.

Sontrach said the Akamil-2 well on Block 239a flowed at a rate of about 600 bopd, from the Upper Devonian F2 formation between depths of 1960 and 1967 m.

The Antar Est-2 well on Block 244a flowed gas at a rate of about 194,000 cu m of gas and 555 barrels of condensate per day from the same formation.

Algeria is the world's fourth-largest exporter of natural gas and the eighth biggest exporter of crude.
