CGG has signed an agreement with Gabon’s Ministry of Petroleum and Hydrocarbons to explore BroadSeis 3D data offshore the central African country

As a result of this agreement, CGG will explore 35,000 sq km of BroadSeis 3D data over the deepwater blocks offshore Gabon and 9,900 km of 2D data over the country’s ultra-deepwater offshore area.

The company said in a statement that the agreement will enable better imaging of Gabon’s pre-salt plays. The agreement will be implemented in association with the Direction Générale des Hydrocarbures (DGH), it added.

Jean-Georges Malcor, CEO of CGG, said, “The first phase of the agreement, covering almost 24,000 sq km, will start in Q4 2014 and is scheduled to last seven months. Two high-end vessels will be assigned to the project to ensure timely delivery of the data. The depth imaging of the seismic data will be performed in CGG’s centre in Crawley, the UK.”
