Eland Oil & Gas PLC, West Africa-focused oil and natural gas exploration company, has reached a target depth of 9,000 feet on the on the Opuama-9 well in licence OML 40 by the end of April 2018
In April 2018, Eland restarted drilling at the Opuama-9 well. The team was confident that the drilling programme would see growth in Opuama oil production, thus increasing oil output in the West African region.
As reported by Alliance News Limited, the new hole section reached the initial target depth, securing the targeted D1000 and D2000 reservoirs.
The source further added that the company is expected to further establish oil drilling target for future in the E2000 reservoir. The well is scheduled to be completed by the end of May 2018, stressed the source.
George Maxwell, CEO of Eland, commented that the company hopes to achieve the short-term target of 30,000 bpd from the Opuama field. Eland will start drilling Opuama-10 field once drilling of Opuama-9 is completed, Maxwell added.
The drilling programme is in line with Eland’s aim to explore more oil and gas potential in the West Africa region.
