Eni announces start of production from deepwater oilfield offshore Angola

Eni East HubEni said the company and state-owned Sonangol began oil production from the deepwater Ochigufu field offshore Angola amidst brisk activity for the company in the continent

The company said that the field would add 25,000 barrels to current production levels.

Eni said that the Vandumbu field, in west hub is expected to start production in early 2019. For this year, it expects start-up of the UM8 reservoir in east hub and the subsea boosting system for Mpungi field.

The company, which operates eight oilfields in the east and west hub projects of the block, said the start-ups would boost overall production by 30,000 barrels.

The Italian oil major, which has been operating in Angola for over 3 decades, has tasted recent success in Africa with giant finds in countries such as Egypt and Mozambique.
