Eni joins Chevron in offshore Liberia exploration blocks

Offshore rig 2 thumb307 Eni will take a 25 per cent stake in three offshore Liberian blocks.Italian oil and gas firm Eni has expanded its presence across West Africa by entering Liberia’s exploration market after signing a sale and purchase agreement with Chevron for a 25 per cent interest in the offshore LB11, LB12 and LB14 blocks

Operated by Chevron the three exploration blocks extend over an area measuring 9,560 sq km and are located on Liberia’s shelf and continental slope in up to 3,000 metres of water depth.

Chevron will now hold a 45 per cent in the blocks, with Eni holding 25 per cent, and Oranto holding the remaining 30 per cent.

Eni currently operates exploration and production projects in a host of West African countries, including Ghana, Togo and Nigeria.
