ERHC Energy has announced the signing of a production sharing contract (PSC) with the Kenyan government for Block 11A in north-western Kenya

The American oil and gas company, who has a key focus on sub-Saharan Africa, has gained drilling license for an area of almost 12 sq km onshore Kenya, situated near Block 10BB, where significant oil discoveries were recently announced.

ERHC president and chief executive officer Peter Ntephe said, “We are building on past successes and leveraging ERHC's unique advantages in Africa to dynamically grow our exploration acreages and build shareholder value.

“Competition for exploration acreages in Kenya is currently high and we are delighted to have been awarded the rights to explore one of the highly prospective Blocks.”

With assets already in Chad, Nigeria, and the Gulf of Guinea, the PSC signifies the oil and gas firm’s first venture into East Africa.
