The oil exploration and production company began drilling operations on 12 October 2012 and has reached a depth of more than 1219 metres.

EB-5 is an appraisal well, targeted at assessing the medium sands encountered during the recently completed EB-4 well drilling programme.

OER currently has a range of producing, development and exploration properties in the Gulf of Guinea, mainly in Nigeria, with a current production of approximately 4,500 bpd.

EB-5 is expected to reach a target depth of 3048 metres and hopes to enable the appraisal of any reserves that may be present in the five hydrocarbon bearing sands that were encountered while drilling the EB-4 well.

The sands' fluid contents were not categorically determined during the drilling of EB-4, as that was not the primary objective of the drilling programme, OER said.
