(Image source: Oando Plc)Oando Energy Resources (OER) has announced positive drilling results from a well in Nigeria’s Ebendo Marginal Field, OML-56, where initial tests revealed flows of more than 950 bopd of 49 degree API oil

EB-4, the fourth well drilled in the field, was spud in March 2012 and drilled to a total depth of 3694.1 metres in June.

According to OER, the well encountered eight hydrocarbon bearing sands over an interval from 2946.5 metres to 3602.7 metres, each with individual reservoir thicknesses of between 21ft and 110ft.

OER CEO Olapade Durotoye remarked, “We continue to successfully advance our appraisal programme in the Ebendo Marginal Field.

“Next steps include further evaluating this positive data and further delineation of the discoveries to assess their size and productive capacity, which we expect to begin in Q4 2012.”

OER, who will now carry out testing on lower level sands, has warned that the positive test results might not be indicative of the well’s long-term performance or of ultimate recovery. The Nigerian oil and gas firm holds a 42.7 per cent non-operating interest in the Ebendo Marginal Field.
