(Image source: Kris Krug/Flickr)UK-based Petrofac and Taleveras Energy Resources have signed a five-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) to provide financial, technical and capacity building support for the state-owned exploration company

The two companies would initially help NPDC develop its offshore block OML119, where reserves and license ownership will be retained by NPDC.

Petrofac said it aimed at supporting NPDC’s aims to further build indigenous capacity and the technical capabilities of its affiliates in the near term. This includes providing training services, asset development/management and production enhancement support for the Nigerian company.

“The MoU has been reached as a part of the ongoing promotion of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development legislation,” Petrofac said.

Nigeria’s Taleveras Energy Resources has a similar MoU with Côte d’Ivoire’s national oil company Petrochi, to collaborate on upstream activities in the west African country.
