Strata-X expands CSG portfolio in Botswana

Strata XThe US-based Strata-X Energy Ltd has acquired two new prospecting licenses for its Serowe CSG Project covering 406,735 acres in Botswana, thus allowing the CSG project to span across 680,000 acres in the Botswana CSG fairway

The Botswana CSG fairway is completely owned and operated by Strata. The additional acreage is expected to add to the 1.4 tcf prospective resource in the company’s existing licenses.

The new acreage lies next to a bitumen highway between Serowe, the regional capital, and Orapa, the site of the world’s largest diamond mine and one of the large potential energy markets in the region.

The estimated quantities of petroleum that may potentially be recovered by the application of future development projects aim to relate to undiscovered accumulations. These estimates have both an associated risk of discovery and a risk of development.

According to Strata, further exploration appraisal and evaluation is required to determine the existence of a significant quantity of potentially moveable hydrocarbons.

Aiming to develop the CSG resource, Strata has selected a Botswana environmental firm to seek necessary environment approvals before the appraisal programme start. The environmental approvals are expected in the Q3 2018.

The proposed appraisal programme aims to prove commercial completion methods and convert resources to reserves. In order to achieve this, Strata plans to apply the latest completion and production methods to yield commercial gas flow rates. Once achieved, the company aims to convert resources into reserves.

Strata-X is Colorado-based oil and gas exploration company, with exploration opportunities in California and Illinois in the US and in Botswana.
