French exploration company Total has begun production from Angola’s Dalia Phase 1A, a new development on the offshore Block 17

Block 17 is located 135 km offshore Angola, and the new Dalia Phase 1A will develop additional reserves of 51mn barrels as well as contribute 30,000 bpd to the block’s overall production, stated Total.

The Dalia Phase 1A project involves the drilling of seven infill wells tied back to the Dalia floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit, added the company.

Total’s president for exploration and production Arnaud Breuillac said that the Dalia FPSO unit came onstream nine years ago, however the addition of Phase 1A would lead to a total production of 200,000 bpd. “Block 17 is Total’s most prolific license with cumulative production reaching two billion barrels in May 2015.”

The other renowned licence that Total explores in Angola is the Kaombo development, located in Block 32. The French company has a 30 per cent interest in the ultra deep offshore development.
