Vitol wins tender to buy Kenya storage terminal

VITOL HOLDING BV has won the right to buy a partially built storage terminal in Kenya, the company has said.

"Following a competitive tender and evaluation process, Vitol Kenya Ltd. confirmed today that it had been awarded the right to purchase a half-built products storage terminal in Kipevu, Mombasa, Kenya," the statement said.
When fully operational the terminal will have 65,000 cu/m of storage capacity for clean products, making it one of the largest and modern facilities in East Africa, the company said. Trition, which built the facilities originally, was placed under receivership a year ago following a loss of US$99.54mn worth of fuel supplies under its custody, according to a report in a Kenyan business daily.
