The agreement was signed with the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, national oil company Petrochi and Afren, UK-listed independent oil and gas company.

Taleveras has also acquired an interest in Afren’s Block CI-525, located near Ghanaian border.

Block CI-523 holds the Ibex oil and gas discovery, while CI-525 covers the Kudu and Eland gas discoveries.

The Kudu, Eland and Ibex discoveries have been estimated to contain 2.8bn cubic metres of gas and 20mn barrels of oil in total.

Taleveras had also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Petrochi for collaboration in upstream activities in the west African country in July 2011. Since then, the Africa oil and gas independent has signed production sharing contracts (PSCs) with the state-owned firm for four exploration blocks offshore Côte d’Ivoire.
